What is Gmail?

Gmail is Google’s web-based email program.  Email addresses will be @my.msmc.edu, and not @gmail.com. You will have 25 GB inboxes! (You can store about 25,000,000 average-sized e-mails in 25 GB.)

By partnering with Google, we are also using G Suite which includes a number of additional collaborative applications.

Why do I need a college provided Google account when I already use Gmail?

Students: Your Gmail account will be the official college communication email address while you are at MSMC.

Adjuncts: Your Gmail account will be the official college communication email address while you are at MSMC.

Faculty: Your Gmail account was created for your convenience. Once you see what your students are doing in G Suite, you may want to collaborate with them. Your Outlook account remains your official college communication email address. You can automatically forward your G Suite email messages to your Outlook account so you do not have to check two accounts.

I’m a MSMC full-time faculty member. Can I use Gmail?

Your Google account has already been set up for your convenience.  Your Outlook account remains your official college communication email address.  If you would like, you can forward your Gmail to your Outlook account.
