Creating Shared Calendars in Office 365

Which Guide to Follow?

If you prefer to view your mail via your browser, then follow the instructions for the  web client. Otherwise you want to follow the instructions pertaining to the Outlook Client.

Creating a Shared Calendar in the Outlook Client

Launch Outlook
Click on the calendar tab in the bottom left of the Outlook window

You will then be taken to your calendar screen. To add a calendar, please click on "Add", located in the top right of the screen

Then select "Create New Blank Calendar"

A window will then open up, entitled "Create New Folder", indicating what you wish to name the calendar and where you wish for it to be placed

You can leave everything as it is, and just enter a name for the calendar in the "Name" field
After doing so, click "OK"
The newly made calendar will then appear in the section entitled "My Calendars"

Sharing a Calendar in the Outlook Client

Right click the new calendar, and then choose "Share > Share Calendar"

An email window will then open up, with your calendar attached to it

IN ORDER TO ADD RECIPIENTS, YOU MUST CLICK ON THE "TO" BUTTON. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE MESSAGE FAILING TO SEND
After clicking on "To", you will be brought to the Global Address List, and from there you can add the users that you require

Once you have added the users, click "OK" to be brought back to the email window
If you wish for users to be able to edit, add, and delete items from the calendar, then be sure to check the box before hitting "Send". If it is not clicked, then they will just be able to view the calendar

After clicking "Send", an invitation email will be sent to the user(s) and the calendar will be shared

Creating a Shared Calendar in the Web Client

Click on the calendar tab in the top left of the screen

You will then be taken to your calendar screen. From there, please click on "Add Calendar"

After doing so, a window will open up, wherein you then want to click on "Create New Blank Calendar"

It will then take you to a screen wherein you can name and create the calendar

You can leave the default location to "Add to" as "My Calendars" and once you have named it to your liking, proceed to click "Save"
A popup should then appear once it has been successfully created

From there, click the x in the top right of the screen to close the window
The newly made calendar will then appear in the section that you specified. (The default being "My Calendars"

Sharing a Calendar in the Web Client

Mouse over the calendar that you wish to share, click on the three dots to the right of said calendar, and then click on "Sharing and permissions"

From there you will be taken to a "Sharing and permissions" screen where you can add users and set their permissions

Search the address bar for the user(s) you wish to share the calendar with

Using the drop-down, you can set their permissions

Once the desired permissions are set, click "Share" wherein an invitation email will be sent to the user(s), and you will be brought back to the "Sharing and permissions" screen
